For the 2020-2021 school year, Wake County has developed an online guide to the technology that your student will be using during virtual and in class learning. Click on the box to the left to access resources on how to use student email (the only email that students can use to contact their teachers), setting up and using chromebooks, learning how to navigating Google Classroom (the official Learning Center for Wakefield Middle School), and much more. Online Learning Opportunities
Wake County is currently working on at home learning opportunities for all students, while we are on our extended break. Below, you will find a direct link to the Middle School page. Below are some additional online activities that are out there to keep our students engaged in their learning. Please note - these are resources that are out there, and I have not fully researched all websites. They are not all representative of the Wake County Public School System. Parents: I found a guide to help you out as we start towards our own at home learning.

Wake County Public Schools has added a website of enrichment activities for students. Below is the direct link to the Middle School Activities. This is currently a basic list of things that students can do at home, and will be updated as new information comes available.
Khan AcademyKhan Academy has created a daily schedule for all grade levels with suggestions for activities. Parents can create a dashboard to monitor their student's online learning.
Creative and fun challenge to keep minds active.
The Kentucky Association for Gifted Education has created a document of enrichment activities for students based on different subjects and grade levels to keep young minds engaged in education. On the left side, you will find categories such as Math, English, Critical Thinking, Dance, Theatre, and more. Each category is then broken down into grade levels. Click on the links under the appropriate grade level for your student to go to an activity.
Vocabulary.com offers vocabulary practice through online lists and activities. Some of the books that we have been studying this year are also included on this list.
The Free Reading Program includes reading comprehension and vocabulary building skills up to 6th grade. Parents will need to sign up for the free program.

DreamBoxAll students have access to this program through their RapidIdentity accounts. They should continue to access through this format, as their username and passwords don't usually work through the outside link.
TedEd videos: Includes videos on historical events, deeper thinking questions - both multiple choice and discussion questions. Make sure you search Ancient History using the search icon.

Time Magazine is offering free subscription to its student magazine through the end of the school year. Here is a great way for students to read up on current events. When a parent signs their student up, the student has access to all the issues that have been released in 2020.
